Clayton Burgardt started City Sanitary in the late 1950’s with one truck. He ran the company until 1980 when it was purchase by his sons Gregg and Gary. They split the company into two separate companies, City Sanitary Commercial and City Sanitary Residential.

In 2005 Gregg purchased City Sanitary Residential from his brother Gary.  Gregg and Laurie Burgardt, along with their son Chris operated the combined businesses under City Sanitary Commercial until 2022.

Chris and his wife Jodi purchased City Sanitary in September of 2022 and now run a total of three garbage trucks, three roll-off trucks and a recycling truck.  They are proud to be a third generation family owned business and look forward to many years of servicing the community.
